Where we are: Maps and Directions

Second Congregational United Church of Christ is located at 318 N. Church St. in the heart of downtown Rockford's "River District". Our facilities occupy the block bounded by Church Street, Jefferson Street, Court Street, and Park Avenue.

Our location puts us right in the center of downtown action. We're right across from the '320 Store', only just one block west of Rockford's historic Coronodo Theatre, and within easy walking distance to other downtown notables such as: Beattie Park, Octane Interlounge, the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, the Winnebago County government buildings, the Rockford Mass Transit District transfer station, and much more.

From the North:

  • Coming down Illinois Rt. 2 / N. Main Street: follow Rt. 2 as it curves over to Church Street. Continue south on Rt. 2. The church is on the right just after Park Avenue (which is the first traffic light after Whitman St.). Entrance to the main parking lot is on the right after you pass the church building.

  • Coming down Illinois Rt. 251 / N. 2nd Street: take Rt. 251 south to the ramp for the Whitman Street bridge. Take the Whitman Street bridge, then turn left at the 2nd traffic light (Church Street). Continue south on Church Street. The church is on the right just after Park Avenue (which is the first traffic light after turning onto Church St.). Entrance to the main parking lot is on the right after you pass the church building.
  • Coming down Rockton Ave.: take Rockton Ave. south past Whitman Street. Following the flow of the road, you will curve gently and merge into Winnebago Street. Immediately at the end of the curve, turn left onto Park Ave. To go to our main parking lot, go one block and turn right at Court Street. The entrance to the main parking lot is 1/2 block ahead on Court Street, on the left.

From the East:

  • Coming on East State Street / Business US 20: Take East State Street to Jefferson St. Follow the signs for Business US 20, as it bears right onto Jefferson St. Take Jefferson Street about 3/4 of a mile, crossing the river. After the 3rd traffic light following the river (Church Street), you will begin passing the church's main parking lot on your right. To enter the parking lot, turn right at the next light (Court Street), and turn immediately right again into the parking lot.
  • Coming on Spring Creek Rd.: Take Spring Creek Rd. to Illinois Route 251. Take Rt. 251 South to the ramp for the Whitman Street bridge. Take the Whitman Street bridge, and turn left at the 2nd traffic light (Church Street). Continue south on Church Street. The church is on the right just after Park Avenue (which is the first traffic light after Whitman St.). Entrance to the main parking lot is on the right after you pass the church building.
  • Coming on Charles St.: Take Charles St. northwest until it ends at East State Street. Continue straight through the intersection with East State Street, continuing onto Jefferson St. Take Jefferson Street about 3/4 of a mile, crossing the river. After the 3rd traffic light following the river (Church Street), you will begin passing the church's main parking lot on your right. To enter the parking lot, turn right at the next light (Court Street), and turn immediately right again into the parking lot.

From the South:

  • Coming up Illinois Rt. 2 / S. Main Street: follow Rt. 2 northward. As you reach downtown, continue on Rt. 2 as it curves to the right toward Wyman St. Continue north on Rt. 2 / Wyman Street to Jefferson St (the 5th traffic light after curving onto Wyman). Turn left onto Jefferson St. After crossing Church Street, you will begin passing the church's main parking lot on your right. To enter the parking lot, turn right at the next light (Court Street), and turn immediately right again into the parking lot.

From the West:

  • Coming on West State Street / Business US 20: Take West State Street to Court Street. Turn left at Court Street. Take Court Street just over 2 blocks. The entrance to the main parking lot will be on your right, immediately after crossing Jefferson St.
